AIA, PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT, INTERIOR DESIGNER
Mark has been an a leader in the "Green Building" movement for more than 35 years. He has been a featured speaker on building green at several local and national conventions and seminars, including CRES's International Renewable Energy Conference, the National Home Builders Association's Custom Home Builder Symposium and the AIA's local, regional and national Conventions. Mark was an original member of the now dissolved "Built-Green Colorado" organization helping push visibility for more sustainable design and energy efficient homes. Some of his homes achieve that programs highest ratings. He has written about sustainable design in numerous and diverse publications as well as having been featured for his work in sustainability in many others, also being featured on HGTV for building green. Most recently Brian and Mark's design of a LEED Gold custom home in Colorado's Phantom Canyon Ranch Nature Conservancy has garnered local and national awards for its innovative and sustainable design. Mark received his B.S. in Art History from the University of Wyoming in 1973. After working with a distinguished Interior Design firm on the East Coast for a few years he went on to receive his Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota in 1980.
AIA, LEED AP, PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
With over 25 years of professional experience, Brian rejoined MQ Architecture Boulder as a partner in the Fall of 2015. Although a native Minnesotan, Brian has lived in Colorado for much of his adult life. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota (1992) and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University (1998). After a few years working in Connecticut, running the MQ Architecture Minneapolis satellite office, and paddling around the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Brian returned to Colorado. Brian enjoys music, movies, skiing, golf, fishing, cooking and travelling with his wife, two kids and dog Montana.
LEED GA, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
Matt is a Colorado native. He is a graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a Bachelor of Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture degree (2011). After undergrad, Matt obtained his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado at Denver and LEED Green Associate credential in 2013. He then continued to work in Boulder before starting to work for Mark in early 2015. In his spare time, Matt enjoys the outdoors, bike riding, attending concerts & spending time with his fiance.
A.AIA, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
An Ohio native, Erica received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 2015. Throughout her education she traveled the United States through the University’s selective co-op program. Her experiences working for an artist in San Diego, an Architect in San Francisco and an experiential marketing firm in New York City has broadened her design perspective and brought her to the mountains of Colorado. Her focus at MQAD has been on custom homes and interior remodels. In her free time Erica enjoys cooking, photography and snowboarding.
Laura began working at MQ Architecture and Design after completing her Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2006. After seven years of working in Boulder she returned to the University of Minnesota to obtain her Master of Architecture. After graduation in May of 2015 she returned to Colorado and MQ Architecture. Residential architecture has always been her passion and she especially enjoys working with clients to design spaces particular to their unique lifestyles. Though a native Wisconsinite, her love of the mountains greatly influenced her decision to move back to the Boulder area. In her free time Laura enjoys rock climbing, camping, backpacking and hiking with her husband and their dog, Hallett.
Shelly grew up in the mid-west and attended SDSU. She graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology including extensive classwork in art and business. She worked in engineering for 3M & Rockwell International for 10 years before taking time off to raise her family. During those years she developed her love of architecture and design by building three custom homes for her own family and being involved in numerous residential remodels. She derives great satisfaction from helping clients personalize their home's layout, material choices and decor. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, working, textile arts, tennis & golf.
